When you use a slave on your DAW system, like I do, you have to install both VST2 and 3 versions of your plugin otherwise nothing will show up in the VEP5 slave. This is a shame because almost all plugins are VST3 nowadays. The slave software cannot load VST3 plugins. If you right click on a plug in in the browser, you can click 'hide' so it doesn't show up (there's a little icon at the top of the browser to show hidden plug ins if you need to access them. On PC you should just use VST3 (I don't even bother installing the VST2 or 32 bit versions anymore). The biggest difference that users notice is the change of the file extension, VST and VST2 is.dll, while VST3 is.vst3 now. VST2 was an update of VST, while VST3 was more of a ground up overhaul of the entire platform.

By the way patchwork shut down plugins when no audio is passing through it, like pt11 would do. In fact I was talking about one plugin existing in both VST and AAX, and comparing the two CPU wise.
